Knowsley Hall Guided Tours

 

The Earl and Countess of Derby extend a warm welcome to all visitors for the annual public open week at Knowsley Hall in October 2024. This exclusive event provides a unique opportunity for guests to enjoy a guided tour of one of Merseyside’s best-kept treasures.


DATES & TIMES

There will be two daily tours at 10:30am and 14:30pm on the following dates:

  • Monday 7th October

  • Tuesday 8th October

  • Wednesday 9th October

  • Thursday 10th October

  • Monday 14th October

Each tour, lasting approximately 1 ½ hours and will finish with refreshments to include tea, coffee and biscuits for £24 per person.  There will be an opportunity to ask questions and purchase memorabilia. For an extra treat, book a Knowsley afternoon tea for £27 per person served after the morning tour or before the afternoon tour.


SPECIAL EXHIBITION – CELEBRATING DERBY WOMEN

This year’s special exhibition celebrates the remarkable women of the Derby family through the centuries, featuring captivating paintings and stories. Discover the iconic Lady Margaret Beaufort, who married the 1st Earl after being previously wed to the Earl of Richmond and giving birth to Henry Tudor, later Henry VII. Explore the legacy of Charlotte de La Trémoille, the esteemed wife of the 7th Earl, and her heroic defence of Lathom House during the 1644 parliamentary siege. Learn about Eliza Farren, the second wife of the 12th Earl, who rose to fame as a celebrated comic actress, securing her place in history.

The current Countess of Derby, Caroline Stanley, is married to Edward Stanley, the 19th Earl of Derby. She has produced engaging podcasts, documentaries, and history talks. Her seven-episode podcast series delves into the Derby family’s six centuries of history, filled with riveting drama, intrigue, politics, war, socio-economic changes, culture, and art.

For those interested in booking tickets for a guided tour on Monday 14th October, we are pleased to offer a rare and special opportunity to stay the night at Knowsley Hall on Sunday 13th October. Check-in is available from 3:00pm, and the rate is £225 per room, based on double occupancy, which includes breakfast.
